Designer Katrin Whitehead wanted Cendrillon's home to look like 17th century picture book illustrations. Rustic Sideboard
Initially, the sideboard was also supposed to be 2D, but for it to be functional, we had to create and actual, working piece of furniture from Whiteheads concept.
The sideboard was composed entire of 3/4 inch Plywood, had an interior shelf, a ledge and closing cupboards. The drawers were cosmetic and did not open.
Whitehead wanted to replicate an etching look, so the paint finish was comprised of cross-hatching and several shades of Grey to imitate 2D shading.

Very simple shapes and light for easy transportation on and off stage.
Decals were created to be lasercut on sticker vinyl for the face and pendulums. The hands were shortened and modified from a working clock. the paint finish was cross-hatched and matched the other pieces in Cendrillons kitchen.
