For a little project, I created a bas-relief of the famous Gonzo! I first found an image that could be built up simply. Adding bit by bit to create the first impressions of a 3D rendering. While it did look a little...phallic, I was able to create a shape that resembled Gonzo's nose better after some tweaking.
After the sculpt, I used a two part mould mixture to encase my clay figure. After moulding, casting was the next step into bringing him to life. I was able to get two casts with success.
Off to paint! As I wanted him to resemble stone, It was all about building layers of greys, blues and whites to create dimension. A little bit of spatter really sold the illusion. and now I have a little Gonzo to replace a keystone.
First attempt at building up the sculpt, was revised later (for very visible reasons)
I was able to get two completed Gonzo casts from my mould, so he wouldn't be lonely.
