Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play takes place after a nuclear apocalypse, cutting out all power. For one of my major builds, I had to work on a car that was meant to be used as a prop. The one constraint I had was to use found objects to replicate the silhouette of a vehicle. Powertools, drills, and 'conventional' ways to attach material do not exist in the Mr. Burns Universe. The body of the car was built up from an old push cart, two school chairs, and a bed frame attached to the front.
I welded a new axle to extend the length to attach old bicycle wheels to the frame. Once the main frame was built, it was all about embellishing. Using wire, old cables, paper lanterns, a destroyed picture frame, milk crates, and a faux chicken, I attached them all to the 'car' to create that campy, found object feel to the prop.
