I encountered a lot of research in this project. My main question throughout was 'How similar should the book be to the original?' For authenticity, there are the same amount of pages (230) all hand-painted (much like how the text was created in the 14th century), alongside hand binding each page and creating a worn cover as well. The Kotsibie Manuscript is an homage to the original The Voynich Manuscript, but has my own personal touches, as all the botanical illustrations are my designs, and the text is decipherable (as it is a lorem ipsum-based text. if you understand Latin, you may be able to read my manuscript)
The Cover
To give the worn vellum quality, I covered cardboard in tissue paper and glue. It gave a raised texture. After drying I cleaned the edges and then got into painting and weathering.
Creating Text
For the text, I laser cut a stamp out of rubber, and pressed it into the folio.
